Lancaster Pride Statement on Lititz Moravian Congregation Decision

In recent news, the Lititz Moravian Congregation Board of Trustees has chosen to not allow Lititiz Chooses Love, to celebrate the Pride Festival in June at Lititz Springs Park – read their statement here. Our identities are not political and our drag performers are human and deserve love and respect like any other individual.
During LGBTQ+ Pride Month, in June, we reflect on the progress we have made as a Nation in the fight for justice, inclusion, and equality while reaffirming our commitment to do more to support LGBTQ+ rights at home. The Pride Festival is an opportunity for our community to show up as their authentic and true self while inviting individuals, families, allies, and everyone in between, locally, and afar, to stand in solidarity and experience love.
Lititz Chooses Love is a nonprofit mutual aid support organization providing resources, free accessible events, and more, dedicated to the LGBTQ+ community of Lancaster County. They want to inspire our neighbors to choose love, to understand that an inclusive community is a thriving community, and to provide safe spaces for all who seek a sense of belonging.
Lancaster Pride desires for social, legal, and financial equality for all members of the LGBTQ+ community. We desire to create an environment wherein all communities in Lancaster County are treated with respect and dignity. In turn, we want a world where understanding, acceptance, and celebration is the reality for all people.
We do not agree with the Lititz Moravian Congregation Board of Trustees and hope they will reconsider and overturn their decision.

About Lititz Chooses Love
Lititz Chooses Love is a 501C3 mutual aid support organization providing resources, free accessible events, and more, dedicated to the LGBTQ+ community of Lancaster County. We want to inspire our neighbors to choose love, to understand that an inclusive community is a thriving community, and to provide safe spaces for all who seek a sense of belonging. We are at heart a community organization and welcome volunteers year-round to assist with events and our resource center –open Wednesday 5PM-8PM and every Saturday 9AM-12PM–which houses our food pantry, gender affirming closet, and book collection.
