Hate should have no home here.

In the wake of recent events, we find ourselves grappling with emotions ranging from sorrow to anger. Yet, amidst the darkness, there’s a beacon of hope shining brightly: love. Love, in all its forms, is what defines us as a community.

This weekend has been one of both gratitude and sorrow for Lancaster Pride. We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support in the face of adversity, yet we are also deeply saddened by the events that have shaken our community to its core. The attack on our LGBTQ+ family strikes at the very heart of who we are.

At Lancaster Pride, we believe in a world where everyone is treated with respect and dignity, regardless of who they love or how they identify. We are committed to advocating for social and legal equality where every member of our LGBTQ+ family is treated with the respect and dignity they deserve. We envision a future where understanding, acceptance, and celebration are not just ideals, but everyday realities for all.

In the face of adversity, we have choices to make. We can choose love over hate, compassion over indifference, and understanding over judgment. These choices not only shape our world today but also the legacy we leave for future generations.

Now, more than ever, we urge you to take action. Support institutions like the Lancaster Public Library, which provide invaluable safe spaces for our community to thrive. Check in on your loved ones, especially our vulnerable youth, who may feel the weight of these threats more heavily. And above all, raise your voice against hate. Share our message, amplify the call for love, and advocate for change wherever you can. But we cannot achieve this vision alone. We need each and every one of you to stand with us.

We call upon each one of you to take action:

  1. SUPPORT YOUR LIBRARY: Our partnership with the Lancaster Public Library is invaluable. Let’s stand with them during these challenging times by donating, volunteering, and supporting their initiatives aimed at fostering inclusivity and safety for all.
  2. CHECK ON YOUR PEOPLE: The events of this weekend highlight the very real threats faced by our LGBTQ+ youth and community members. Reach out to your loved ones, offer support, and let them know they are not alone. Together, we can create a support network that uplifts and protects.
  3. MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD: Spread the message far and wide that love conquers hate. Utilize your platforms, write to your representatives, and advocate for a world where acceptance and celebration are not just ideals but realities.

Remember, you are not alone. There is strength in our community, and together, we will overcome. If you ever find yourself in need of support, know that help is just a call or text away.
